Located in central North Carolina, just outside of Raleigh, Knightdale is a small town with a year-round population of just under 18,000 people. The town was incorporated in the year 1927, to be named after Henry Haywood Knight, a Wake County landowner who helped to establish a railroad depot in the area. Over the years, Knightdale continued to be a small little town, until the population began to steadily increase around the 1990s. Due to the opening of its own high school, the development of an exit off the freeway, and shopping centers being built, families have begun to take up residency in this suburban area.
